Allegiant Air orders six additional Boeing 737 MAX jets

Allegiant Air has exercised purchase options to acquire six additional Boeing 737-8 aircraft, with deliveries scheduled for 2028. This move brings the airline's total confirmed orders under its existing agreement with Boeing to 56 aircraft, 22 of which have already been delivered.

The combined list price for the six new jets exceeds $720 million, though the final cost is subject to discounts and price adjustments. Allegiant retains options for an additional 74 aircraft. The airline intends to use these new jets to replace retiring aircraft and expand its fleet while reducing fuel consumption, as the MAX models are expected to burn approximately 20% less fuel than the older Airbus A320-family jets currently in use.

The order follows previous delivery delays that prompted Allegiant to amend its agreement with Boeing in late 2024. The airline has previously noted that such delays have had significant financial implications.
