Allen County Public Library opens Robert Todd Lincoln exhibit

The Allen County Public Library’s Rolland Center for Lincoln Research has launched a temporary exhibition titled ‘Carrying Lincoln’s Legacy’. The exhibit focuses on the life of Robert Todd Lincoln, the only son of Abraham Lincoln to reach adulthood.

Robert Todd Lincoln is noted for his role in preserving his father’s memory and participating in various memorial events. The display includes nine items such as photographs, letters, and a stereoscope. One notable item is a 1905 letter in which Robert granted permission to the Lincoln National Life Insurance Company to use a photograph of the president on their letterhead.

The exhibition is free to the public and will be available at the downtown library location through the end of 2026. Additionally, the center is hosting a virtual lecture series titled ‘Lincoln at the Library’, which includes a presentation on John Brown’s 1859 raid on Harpers Ferry.
