Allen Iverson reveals past struggles with alcohol addiction

Former NBA star Allen Iverson has opened up about his struggles with alcohol addiction following his retirement from professional basketball. Speaking on ‘The Underground Lounge’ podcast, Iverson detailed the extent of his heavy drinking and the significant financial costs involved.

Iverson stated that he would frequently purchase two bottles of Don Julio tequila every other day, spending approximately $300 per occasion. He noted that his consumption often increased while traveling or spending long hours in casinos. He reflected that while his body could manage such a lifestyle during his playing days due to constant physical activity and training, the lack of a rigorous routine after retirement made the impact of alcohol much harder to handle.

Iverson described his decision to stop drinking as one of the best choices of his life, noting that the habit had caused various personal issues.
