Allgäu Alps mountain huts begin seasonal closures

The hiking season in the Allgäu Alps is approaching its end, with many German Alpine Club (DAV) huts scheduled to close for the winter in October. While many facilities close early in the month, some remain open through November.

Specific closing dates for German locations include the Mindelheimer Hütte, Rappenseehütte, and Waltenberger-Haus, which all close by October 3. Other locations, such as the Schwarzenberghütte, remain open until November 1. On the Austrian side of the Allgäu Alps, the Bad Kissinger Hütte is scheduled to stay open until November 7.

For hikers planning autumn or winter excursions, the Staufner Haus is noted as a suitable option for beginners and families. Located at 1,634 meters, it remains open for overnight stays even during the winter months. Travelers are advised to check specific opening hours and contact individual huts directly, as closing dates may change due to weather conditions.
