Allgäu cattle drives feature small-scale traditional events in 2026

The 2026 cattle drive season in the Allgäu region of Germany features several small-scale traditional events known as Viehscheid. Among the smallest events is the Heimhofen cattle drive, scheduled for October 10, 2026. This event is notable for being the final cattle drive of the season in the region. Approximately 60 cattle return from nearby pastures to the Heimhofen assembly point, accompanied by alphorn players and attended by over 1,000 spectators.

Other small-scale drives in the region include Unterjoch on September 14, 2026, where up to 60 young cattle from the Buchelalpe arrive, and Wengen on September 19, 2026, featuring roughly 100 young cattle.
