Allgäu region schedules 2026 traditional cattle drives

Several traditional cattle drives, known as Viehscheid, have been scheduled across the Allgäu region for the 2026 season. These events mark the return of livestock from alpine pastures to the valleys.

In Bolsterlang, the event is set for September 22, 2026, featuring approximately 500 young cattle. In Pfronten-Röfleuten, the drive will take place on September 19, 2026, with around 160 cattle. Zell is also scheduled for September 19, 2026, hosting one of the region's smaller drives with 80 to 100 animals.

Other scheduled events include the Haslach Viehscheid in Oy-Mittelberg on September 26, 2026, involving up to 100 cattle, and the Heimhofen Viehscheid near Grünenbach on October 10, 2026, which is expected to be one of the final drives of the season with about 60 cattle.
