Allgäu hiking route from Hinterstein to Willersalp

The Allgäu region in Germany offers various hiking opportunities during the autumn season, including a route from Hinterstein to the Willersalp. The hike begins at the ‘Auf der Höh‘ parking lot in the Bad Hindelang district of Hinterstein.

From the starting point, hikers can follow paths through forests to enjoy autumn colors. The trek involves a mix of wide gravel paths and steeper sections through the woods, including a crossing of the Willersbach via a narrow footbridge. The route leads across a meadow plateau toward the Willersalp hut, providing views of the Ponten, Zirleseck, and Gaiseck peaks.

The Willersalp is scheduled to remain open until October 4, 2026. While overnight stays are currently not available, visitors can stop at the hut to enjoy local cheese produced on the alp. The total walking time from the parking lot to the Willersalp is approximately one and a half hours, depending on fitness levels.
