Alliance Arts cancels Drunken Goddess Reflux demo over AI cloning fears

Developers Alliance Arts and Who You have canceled the planned public Steam demo for the anime-style drinking game ‘Drunken Goddess Reflux’. The decision was made due to fears that generative artificial intelligence could be used to rapidly clone the game’s visual assets and gameplay mechanics before its official release.

Originally scheduled for October 19, the public demo will be replaced by closed, invite-only playtests for a limited number of vetted users. The developers noted that they lack the resources to effectively police content creators or enforce streaming and video capture bans on a large scale, which they believe is necessary to prevent rapid imitation by bad actors.

The game, which features a ‘shot glass Russian roulette’ premise, is currently slated for a PC release on December 8, 2026. This move highlights growing anxieties within the independent gaming sector regarding the ease with which AI tools can facilitate asset theft and the creation of low-effort copycat products.
