Alliance Cinema backs David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow

Alliance Cinema, a producer-financier with credits including My Big Fat Greek Wedding, has secured equity financing rights for David Mamet’s film adaptation of his Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Speed-the-Plow.

The film marks Mamet’s return to directing and features a cast including Anthony Mackie, Ben Mendelsohn, Sharon Stone, Emily Alyn Lind, Chris Bauer, and Rebecca Pidgeon. Set at the fictional American Prestige Studios, the story follows a junior executive, Bob Grant, as he navigates a new role in production. The project is currently in post-production.

International sales for the film are being managed by The Solution Entertainment Group, while Milestone Studios will handle U.S. sales. The move represents a strategic shift for Alliance Cinema toward high-concept, intellectual property-driven prestige cinema intended to capture global market share.
