Alliance de la Radio calls for reduced regulatory pressure

Constance Benqué, president of the Alliance de la Radio and head of Lagardère News, is calling for a reduction in the regulatory burden affecting the radio industry. Key issues include the mandatory inclusion of FM and DAB+ in vehicles, legal challenges regarding Radio France frequency permutations, and caps on public service advertising revenue.

Addressing a recent decline in advertising revenue, Benqué characterized the trend as cyclical rather than structural. She noted that approximately 80% of the decline originated from the retail sector, influenced by shifts in commercial calendars and consumer purchasing power. She also highlighted the growing importance of digital audio and the integration of radio into generative AI tools.
