Alliance Dojo 71 expands community programs in Montceau-les-Mines
Alliance Dojo 71 is conducting judo initiation sessions for over 120 primary school students in the Plessis and Bellevue neighborhoods of Montceau-les-Mines. This initiative is part of a solidarity dojo project, the only one of its kind in Saône-et-Loire, established two years ago in collaboration with the local municipality as part of the federal ‘1000 dojos’ project.
In addition to sports training, the dojo provides two hours of homework assistance for local primary school children. The organization is working to expand its services to include adult fitness classes, teenage and adult judo, and computer literacy assistance, aiming to transform the dojo into a community living space.
Furthermore, the club has seen growing interest in its recreational judo program. This branch of the club focuses on well-being, health, and social connection rather than competition, emphasizing the moral code of judo, physical conditioning, and mental health for practitioners of all ages and skill levels.
