Alliance Fintech UEMOA to host 2026 digital asset conference in Cotonou
Alliance Fintech UEMOA has announced the Africa Blockchain & Crypto Conference (ABCC) 2026, scheduled for November 25, 2026, in Cotonou, Benin. The event aims to establish a coordinated operational agenda for digital assets within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).
The conference will bring together regulators, financial intelligence units, banks, fintech companies, and cybersecurity experts to address critical issues including monetary sovereignty, stablecoins, tokenization, and cross-border payments. Discussions will focus on the geopolitical implications of digital currencies, the impact of stablecoins on regional monetary control, and the security of critical financial infrastructures.
This summit follows previous regional initiatives held in Dakar and Abidjan earlier in 2026, serving as a step toward defining how the union can distinguish credible economic uses of blockchain technology from systemic risks.
