Alliance for the Future of Kosovo protests energy crisis with coal demonstration

Members of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) staged a protest in front of the Kosovo Government building by throwing coal to express dissatisfaction with the region's energy situation.

MP Burim Ramadani criticized the current administration under Albin Kurti and the Self-Determination Movement, stating that Kosovo has moved from an energy crisis into a state of “political darkness.” Ramadani highlighted the irony of Kosovo possessing coal resources while failing to produce its own electricity, leading to heavy reliance on foreign imports. He claimed that approximately one billion euros have been spent on purchasing electricity from Serbia and other countries, alleging that an “energy mafia” has profited from this arrangement.

The AAK's platform includes the construction of a new power plant, and the party has signaled that these symbolic protest activities will continue and intensify.
