Alliance for the Union of Romanians reports identity theft at Bucharest protest

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) has filed an official complaint regarding alleged identity theft and coordinated disinformation during recent street protests in Bucharest. The party claims that isolated groups of agitators illegally used AUR symbols and banners, specifically citing a false “AUR Bacău” banner used by individuals not affiliated with the party. The party identified Vasile Botomei, a person previously convicted of forgery, as being involved in these actions. Additionally, the party announced that Marius Dorin Lulea no longer holds any leadership or executive functions.

Separately, AUR deputy Laura Gherasim has criticized the Romanian state's bureaucracy and the management of the country by successive political parties over the last 35 years. Gherasim argued that the expansion of state institutions and taxes has placed an undue burden on citizens and investors, advocating for AUR to take power to reduce the administrative apparatus.
