Alliance police union sues French state over officer safety
The Alliance police union has announced it is filing a complaint against the French state for ‘endangering the lives of others’. The union claims that officers are being subjected to ‘contradictory injunctions’ and ‘vague instructions’ during the ongoing high school protest movement.
Alliance expressed that police officers feel ‘lonely, betrayed, abandoned, exposed to violence and left to vindictiveness’. The organization criticized the discrepancy between official government communications and the verbal orders received by personnel on the ground, suggesting that officers are being sacrificed for political communication.
During a Senate session, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu reported that 937 police officers and gendarmes have been injured in connection with the high school movement, though specific details regarding the severity of these injuries were not provided.
