Alliance pour la République mobilizes for party survival and 2029 presidential ambitions
The Alliance pour la République (APR) is intensifying its organizational efforts in Senegal to maintain its political influence. In Koumpentoum, departmental coordinator Oumar Sy led a general assembly to remobilize party members and local officials. During the meeting, Sy emphasized the need to preserve the party’s presence in the department and praised loyal local leaders, including the mayors of Ndam and Méréto, for their continued commitment to the party founded by former President Macky Sall.
Simultaneously, the party is looking toward the 2029 presidential election. APR spokesperson Alioune Badara Coulibaly has advocated for the return of Macky Sall to the forefront of national politics. Coulibaly criticized the current administration, labeling its leadership as amateurish, and argued that legal and political challenges against the former president have only served to increase his political relevance and indispensability.
