Alliant Energy Center plans $200 million redevelopment in Madison
Dane County Executive Melissa Agard has announced a redevelopment plan for the Alliant Energy Center (AEC) campus in Madison, Wisconsin, valued at nearly $200 million. The initiative aims to modernize the facility to support the continued growth of the World Dairy Expo, which has been hosted at the center for nearly 60 years.
The proposed redevelopment consists of three primary phases:
First, the Coliseum, which dates back to 1967, will undergo interior renovations to improve accessibility, seating, food options, and the overall guest experience. This phase aims to increase the number of annual events the venue can host.
Second, a mixed-use development will be implemented on various portions of the campus and parking areas, potentially including housing, hotels, restaurants, and retail spaces.
Third, the exhibition hall, which opened in 1995, will be expanded. World Dairy Expo officials noted that the current facility has outgrown its capacity, often requiring temporary structures to accommodate cattle housing, trade show space, and meeting requests.
