Allianz and Madrid officials host seminar on forest fire management

Allianz Seguros, the Professional Association of Firefighter Technicians (APTB), and the Madrid City Council organized a seminar titled ‘Lessons learned from the forest fires of 2026’. The event focused on the necessity of transitioning toward a management model that prioritizes prevention and anticipation over reactive response.

Key discussion topics included the coordination of emergency services for new-generation fires, managing evacuations for large populations, and the vulnerabilities of urban-forest interfaces where residential areas meet forested land. Experts highlighted the risks posed by vegetation fuel accumulation due to rural abandonment.

During the session, Mario Anero, Head of Claims at Allianz, presented results from ‘Satellites on Fire’, a satellite monitoring platform. This tool was used during the summer of 2026 to send over 1.2 million preventive communications to clients potentially exposed to fire risks.
