Allianz SE cuts board to eight members amid restructuring

Allianz SE announced that its executive board will be reduced from nine to eight members at the end of the year. The change follows the planned departure of Güntner Thallinger on 31 December 2026 and aims to streamline responsibilities and improve efficiency.

Andreas Wimmer will assume additional duties for the group’s own assets, joining his existing oversight of asset management and US life insurance. Tomas Kunzmann is set to join the board in early 2027, taking charge of the Asia‑Pacific region and Global Health. The reshuffle is intended to consolidate decision‑making across capital investment, insurance operations and related product areas.

Investors are watching the move for its potential impact on Allianz’s premium stability, asset‑management performance and overall risk governance.
