Allianz SE to acquire Ingenico Group following EU approval

The European Commission has approved the acquisition of Poseidon Holdco S.A.S., the parent company of the Ingenico Group, by the German insurance and asset management giant Allianz SE.

Regulators determined that the takeover of the French technology firm does not threaten competition, as the two companies operate in distinct sectors without direct rivalry. The transaction was cleared through a simplified merger control procedure.

Founded in France in 1980, Ingenico is a global fintech player specializing in merchant payment services, point-of-sale (POS) technology, card readers, e-commerce gateways, and management software. The company operates in over 120 countries, serving retailers, financial institutions, and transport operators. For Allianz SE, the acquisition represents a strategic move to diversify its portfolio into technology assets.
