Allianz Trade forecasts high insolvency rates in Germany through 2027

Credit insurer Allianz Trade predicts that corporate insolvencies in Germany will remain at elevated levels through 2027. The company forecasts approximately 25,900 insolvency cases for both the current year and next year, a level comparable to the period during the European debt crisis in 2013.

Milo Bogaerts, Allianz Trade's head for Germany, cited several factors for the lack of relief, including the ongoing conflict involving Iran, weak economic conditions, skilled labor shortages, and high operating costs. The sectors most heavily impacted include transport and logistics, construction, hospitality, automotive, and mechanical engineering.

Data from the Federal Statistical Office shows a steady upward trend in German insolvencies, with 24,064 cases recorded last year. Allianz Trade expects an eight percent increase for the current full year. However, a reversal is anticipated in 2028, with a projected five percent decrease to 24,600 cases, potentially aided by the impact of government economic stimulus measures.
