Alligator Intrusions Prompt Pool Removals in Texas and Florida

A 10‑foot American alligator was discovered swimming in a backyard pool in Los Fresnos, Texas. Licensed nuisance alligator trapper Jacob Reinbolt of the South Padre Island Birding, Nature Center & Alligator Sanctuary responded, captured the reptile in about 15 minutes and relocated it. Reinbolt noted the animal bore scars from fights, a gunshot wound and a missing tail, suggesting it had been displaced while searching for new territory.

In Pembroke Pines, Florida, homeowner Liliana Gonzalez was alerted by her dog’s barking to an alligator in her backyard pool. A wildlife trapper removed the reptile and transferred it to a suitable habitat. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission advises residents to call its Nuisance Alligator Hotline for safe removal and to avoid feeding or approaching wild alligators.
