Southeast Asia expands AI infrastructure through NVIDIA partnership and rising investment
Southeast Asia is experiencing a significant surge in artificial intelligence infrastructure and investment. Aolani, a Singapore-founded AI cloud company, has entered a strategic compute collaboration with NVIDIA to expand AI factory capacity. This initiative aims to deploy 22,000 NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs across new facilities in Malaysia and the Philippines by early 2027, bringing Aolani’s total deployment to over 48,000 GPUs and reaching a capacity of more than 100 megawatts.
Regional investment trends support this expansion. A 2026 Global Data Insights Survey by Digital Realty indicates that 59% of Asia Pacific enterprises plan to increase AI investment by more than 25% in 2026. While market priorities vary—with Australia focusing on ROI, Japan on regulatory compliance, and Singapore on infrastructure readiness—the region remains a robust hub for AI innovation.
Experts at the China-Asean Business Leaders Summit noted that Southeast Asia is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the AI boom due to its young demographic, expanding infrastructure, and geopolitical neutrality, which allows the region to access technologies from both the US and China.
