Allyson Bezerra proposes IPVA tax exemption for motorcycles in Rio Grande do Norte
Allyson Bezerra, a candidate for Governor of Rio Grande do Norte representing União Brasil, has proposed exempting motorcycles with engines up to 170cc from the Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA).
The proposal aims to support workers who rely on motorcycles for income, such as delivery drivers, app-based transporters, and residents in rural areas. Bezerra stated that if elected, he intends to submit a bill to the Legislative Assembly as one of his first official measures.
Currently, Rio Grande do Norte applies a 2% tax rate to motorcycles up to 200cc, though vehicles older than ten years are already exempt. The candidate noted that similar exemptions exist in other states, such as Paraíba, to encourage local economic circulation by increasing the disposable income of families.
