Criminal investigations reported in Portugal and Brazil

Various criminal investigations and incidents have been reported across Portugal and Brazil.

In Portugal, the Porto Criminal Court has moved four defendants to trial regarding a tax fraud and money laundering scheme in the 'ChinaTown' industrial zone of Vila do Conde. The scheme, involving 42 companies and 22 defendants, allegedly resulted in 88 million euros in tax evasion through the undeclared sale of Chinese-made clothing and footwear. Additionally, a 38-year-old man was arrested in Vila Nova de Gaia for the suspected sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl over a two-year period. In Almada, a man was placed in preventive detention for 11 counts of qualified theft, primarily targeting schools.

In Brazil, a woman was arrested in Itaboraí for the feminicide of her 77-year-old mother. The suspect allegedly attacked the victim with a hammer, motivated by a suspected affair between the mother and the suspect's partner. Family members have contested the suspect's claims and accused her of theft. Other incidents include a man arrested in Imbé for threatening family members and assaulting an elderly woman, and a 72-year-old woman assaulted during a robbery at a bar in Marília.
