Almada water reserves hit 40% as Seixal provides temporary relief

The municipal water authority in Almada reported that average water reserves across its main reservoirs have risen to 40%, a level that allows officials to consider reducing the number of hours of water cuts. The authority monitors five reserve levels, with the current 40% falling into the yellow band (30‑50%), which triggers a review of restrictions and possible easing of supply measures.

In a coordinated effort, the neighboring municipality of Seixal is lending one of its water‑intake boreholes to Almada. The additional supply is intended to bolster Almada’s reservoirs and alleviate some of the restrictions imposed on residents, particularly in the Costa da Caparica area, where repeated supply failures have been reported.

Authorities continue to support priority institutions with 1,000‑liter water tanks and maintain restrictions on non‑essential water use while evaluating further steps to restore normal service.
