Almadén taxi drivers join new demand-responsive transport service
AISA, the concessionaire for the Demand Responsive Transport (TSD) service in Almadén, has reached an agreement with local taxi drivers to incorporate them into the new service model. The agreement follows the service's launch on September 9.
Following mediation by the Directorate General of Transport, five taxi drivers have accepted the terms offered by the company. Nacho Hernando, the Regional Minister of Public Works, explained that while state regulations prevent the administration from contracting taxi drivers directly, public procurement laws allow the primary contractor to subcontract local drivers.
Hernando described the pact as “very positive” for Almadén's taxi professionals, noting that nearly all local drivers who wished to join the project will participate. The regional government highlighted the agreement as a successful example of collaboration between the administration, the concessionaire, and local professionals.
