Almagro Classical Theatre Festival Highlights Diverse Musical Performances

The 49th Festival Internacional de Teatro Clásico de Almagro continues its program at the historic Aurea Renaissance University in Almagro, Spain. On 26 July, the Orquesta Filarmónica de La Mancha presented “El amor brujo: Falla on fire”, reviving three of Manuel de Falla’s works with live orchestra, dance and contemporary staging. The concert featured the pieces Noches en los jardines de España, El sombrero de tres picos and the definitive version of El amor brujo.

On 24‑25 July, the Accademia del Piacere staged “Romances. Entre Oriente y Occidente”, a multicultural show combining Arabic‑Andalusian music, Spanish poetry and narratives of exile. Directed by Syrian‑Palestinian Fahmi Alqhai, the program emphasized art as a bridge between cultures and included translations of historic texts into Arabic.

Both performances form part of the festival’s effort to blend tradition with modern interpretation, offering audiences a varied musical and cultural experience.
