Almagro launches new season of Las Teatralizadas at historic Corral de Comedias

The Corral de Comedias in Almagro, one of Spain's best‑preserved Golden Age theatres, reopened for a new summer season of "Las Teatralizadas" on 31 July. The programme, which blends history, humor and audience participation, will run through July, August and September on weekends, featuring the classic piece "De doblones y amores". Three specialised actors – Javier Calzado, Beatriz Naranjo and Laura Gádez – lead the performances, while the recorded voice of Fernando Fernán Gómez provides narration.

The city’s Teatro Municipal, a restored 19th‑century neoclassical building with a 244‑seat horseshoe‑shaped auditorium, also serves as a key venue for the International Classical Theatre Festival. After a major rehabilitation completed in 2006, the theatre hosts a range of events, from classic plays and zarzuelas to children's and off‑festival productions, complementing the Corral’s offerings and enhancing Almagro’s cultural tourism.

Both venues are central to the summer festival, attracting domestic and international audiences to experience Spain’s theatrical heritage.
