Almagro residents seek urban reserve as state auctions land for $381k

Argentina’s Agencia de Administración de Bienes del Estado (AABE) will hold an auction on 20 August for a vacant lot in the Almagro neighbourhood of Buenos Aires. The parcel measures about 230 m², sits between median walls, and is covered by spontaneous trees and vegetation. The base price is US$381,690, roughly 20 % lower than earlier calls; three previous auctions in 2025 attracted no bidders.

Local residents, organised by the Colectivo Relieve, have gathered thousands of signatures and filed a legislative proposal to designate the site as a micro‑urban reserve. They argue the area suffers a shortage of green space per inhabitant and want the existing flora preserved, proposing minimal interventions such as a walkway and seating areas.
