Almameh Gibba outlines No To Alliance strategy for Gambia election

Almameh Gibba, the flagbearer of the No To Alliance Movement, has outlined his strategic vision and policy goals ahead of the December 2026 presidential election in The Gambia. Gibba defended the decision to run under the No To Alliance banner—a movement associated with former President Yahya Jammeh—stating it was a calculated move to maintain political identity and voter recognition following internal disagreements within the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC).

Gibba has pledged to facilitate the return of Yahya Jammeh, who has been in exile since 2017, should his movement win the election. Addressing the contentious nature of Jammeh’s legacy, Gibba suggested that both victims of human rights abuses and the former president deserve the opportunity to present their accounts.

In terms of governance, Gibba has called for an opposition coalition to challenge the current leadership and has proposed several key priorities: removing foreign security forces, ensuring natural resources benefit Gambians, reviving agricultural self-sufficiency, and providing affordable, universal healthcare. He also emphasized a commitment to religious respect for both Christianity and Islam.
