Almeida Municipality mourns death of former leader José da Costa Reis

The Municipality of Almeida has expressed deep condolences following the death of José da Costa Reis, a prominent figure in the region's public life. Reis served as the President of the Almeida Municipal Chamber from January 4, 1994, to November 2, 2005, and subsequently led the Municipal Assembly from November 2005 until October 2017.

In an official note of mourning, the municipality highlighted his legacy of service, noting his commitment to the development of the municipality and his dedication to the interests of the people of Almeida. He was recognized for his contributions to the modernization and valorization of the territory.

Funeral ceremonies are scheduled to take place on Thursday at 10:00 in the Church of Vilar Formoso, his birthplace, with the wake held at the Vilar Formoso Mortuary Chapel starting Wednesday afternoon.
