Almeirim approves plan to build 566 homes by 2036

The Almeirim Municipal Council has approved a Municipal Housing Charter that aims to construct 566 homes by 2036. The plan includes 306 units to be managed directly by the municipality and 260 through partnerships with cooperatives and social sector entities.

The strategy expands upon a 2021 local housing plan, extending the intervention horizon and broadening the scope to include middle-income families facing market access difficulties, rather than focusing solely on severe housing need. A diagnostic study identified 299 cases of housing need in the municipality, including 133 cases of undignified living conditions.

Direct municipal interventions will include 91 units for supported rental, seven for affordable rental and official housing, 168 units for sale under resolvable property regimes, and 40 plots for self-construction.
