Almería Airport launches first direct flights to Bucharest

Almería Airport has inaugurated its first regular direct connection with Bucharest, Romania, operated by Wizz Air. The new route is designed to operate year-round, moving away from seasonal limitations to provide consistent connectivity.

Wizz Air will provide three weekly frequencies—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—using an Airbus A321neo with a capacity of 239 passengers per flight. The total annual capacity for this route is estimated at 70,000 seats. The flight duration is expected to be between three and a half to four hours.

The initiative is the result of a strategic alliance between the Almería Provincial Council and the city councils of Almería and Roquetas de Mar. This partnership includes a 500,000 euro tourism promotion campaign to target the emerging Romanian market and combat tourism seasonality in the Costa de Almería region.
