Almería Airport to close for six days in 2028 for runway upgrades

Almería Airport in Andalusia, Spain, is scheduled to close for six days in the second half of February 2028 to undergo essential runway renovations. During this period, all scheduled flights will be cancelled, rescheduled, or diverted.

The runway work is the first of its kind at the airport in 20 years and is part of a broader €29 million upgrade project. This development program is expected to begin in 2027 and last approximately 19 months. While the six-day total closure is planned for February 2028, the wider project may cause further disruptions, including night-time works between 10:45 PM and 7:10 AM.

The airport operator, Aena, has already notified airlines including Ryanair, easyJet, and Iberia. Travelers may need to utilize alternative hubs such as Granada–Jaén Airport or Málaga Airport during the closure.
