Almería and Ciudad Real launch summer health and recreation programs

The Almería city council’s Área de Ciudad Activa, Movilidad Urbana y Deporte is starting a campaign called “Aprende a entrenar en tu parque” to teach seniors how to exercise safely in public parks. The programme will run fifteen training sessions across twelve green spaces, offering free elastic bands, instructional videos via on‑site QR‑coded totems and guidance from a specialised fitness trainer.

In Ciudad Real, the municipal government has opened all four public swimming pools at the same time to mark the start of the summer season. An investment of €377,000 funded new lighting, security upgrades and extended opening hours, including late‑night service at the Rey Juan Carlos pool. The inauguration featured the first “Day of Family Leisure in the Water,” with free inflatable play areas and a €1 entry fee for visitors up to 25 years old. Officials aim to surpass the previous summer’s record of 107,000 users.

Both initiatives aim to promote physical activity, improve public‑health facilities and encourage family‑friendly recreation during the summer months.
