Urban renewal and heritage projects launched in Mexico and Spain

Various municipal and regional authorities are launching urban and heritage projects across Mexico and Spain. In Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the ‘Parquemanía’ program has begun rehabilitating parks in the Ejido neighborhood. The initiative, which involves private sector partnerships, aims to recover 168 public spaces for sports and family use, including a new dedicated area for senior citizens.

In Almería, Spain, the City Council has proposed transforming the old railway station into a cultural, tourist, and dining hub, pending negotiations with Adif. Additionally, work has commenced on the Periodistas Park playground to create a 100% inclusive and accessible space featuring specialized equipment and smart paving.

In Mallorca, the Consell de Mallorca has submitted a formal offer to acquire the Almallutx estate in the Gorg Blau reservoir. The acquisition, aimed at protecting a unique archaeological site, is being pursued through judicial auction processes to ensure the site becomes part of the public heritage.
