Almería authorities boost security for Noche en Blanco and Eid al-Adha festivals

Mayor María del Mar Vázquez of Almería led a local security board meeting to set increased patrols, foot checks, medical assistance points and special traffic regulations for the city’s Noche en Blanco cultural night on 29 May. The plan involves the National Police, Guardia Civil, local police, the regional security unit, fire services and civil‑protection volunteers, all coordinating to prevent crime and ensure sanitary evacuation if needed.

In the nearby town of El Ejido, the municipal government announced a special surveillance operation for the Eid al‑Adha (fiesta del cordero) beginning 27 May. Local police will monitor the slaughtering and associated activities to enforce public order and hygiene standards, with fines ranging from €3 000 to €15 000 for violations. The festival is significant for the town’s large Muslim community, which numbers more than 20 000 residents, representing about 31.8 % of the 91 000‑person municipality.
