Almería cancels tender for solar-powered nautical huts

The Almería City Council has declared the procurement process for sustainable nautical solar huts void after no companies submitted bids within the legal deadline. The project aimed to install photovoltaic-powered containers at El Toyo-Retamar and Cabo de Gata to serve as clean logistical centers for water sports such as kayaking and paddle surfing.

Despite having all necessary sector authorizations and a 30-year maritime-terrestrial public domain concession, the base tender budget of approximately 20,661 euros was deemed insufficient to attract private sector interest. This initiative was part of the larger ‘Cabo de Gata Tourism Sustainability Plan’, a macro-project supported by 3 million euros in European Next Generation funds.
