Almería culinary competition reaches grand final
The 30th edition of the Almería culinary competition has reached its grand final in the city's Plaza de las Velas. Six amateur cooks—four women and two men—are competing for a top prize of 1,000 euros, with secondary prizes of 500 euros and two smaller awards of 200 euros.
The finalists must prepare traditional gachas representative of the Almería province. The event features professional culinary figures, including Michelin-starred chef Iria Espinosa and food communicator Caterina Pak. Local officials, including Almería City Councilor María del Mar Vázquez and Carlos Sánchez from the Provincial Council, attended the event to highlight the importance of local gastronomy in supporting regional agriculture and tourism.
