Almería’s 59th Flamenco Festival Kicks Off ‘Semana Grande’
The 59th Almería International Festival of Flamenco and Dance has begun its ‘Semana Grande’, a six‑night showcase in Plaza de la Constitución from 14 to 19 July. Six consecutive evenings will feature a mix of cante, baile and guitarra, with ticket sales at the municipal box office and online.
Highlights include master‑class sessions by guitarist Tomatito, a monographic dance evening with Marco Flores’s Vengo Jondo on 14 July, and a solo performance by award‑winning dancer Rocío Garrido on 16 July. The programme also presents nightly line‑ups of prominent cantaores such as Segundo Falcón, Pedro “El Granaíno”, Ezequiel Benítez and Rancapino Chico, as well as a special ‘Noche de Flamencas’ on 19 July showcasing La Macanita, Esperanza Fernández, Aurora Vargas and Belén López.
The festival concludes with the semifinal of the Andalusian Youth Flamenco Circuit on 20 July at Teatro Apolo, organized by regional cultural institutions.
