Almería highway shooting linked to clan violence

A man was wounded in a shooting on the A-92 highway near Las Tres Villas, Almería, after being targeted by gunfire from another moving vehicle. The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to the foot, lost control of his car and drove off the road. Emergency services deployed a medical helicopter to evacuate him to the Hospital Universitario Torrecárdenas.

Investigations suggest the attack is linked to an ongoing conflict between criminal factions known as ‘Los Saúles’ and ‘Los Lateros’. The victim has been identified as a son of Antonio Santiago Muñoz, alias ‘Saúl el Viejo’, a prominent figure in the ‘Los Saúles’ clan who has been a fugitive since June 2025. This incident follows a pattern of violence in the region, including previous shootings and arson.

The Guardia Civil is investigating the incident and a small forest fire that broke out at the scene to determine if there is a connection. No arrests have been made as the perpetrators fled the scene at high speed.
