Almería implements AI-driven urban cleaning service

The city of Almería has activated a new urban cleaning service utilizing artificial intelligence to optimize street and beach maintenance. The macro-contract, valued at 193 million euros over seven years, is managed by Acciona Servicios Urbanos.

Unlike previous rigid schedules, the new system uses technology to adapt cleaning routes and deployment based on seasonal needs, weather conditions, and wind. The service includes an increase in mechanical resources and the establishment of nine operational bases to reduce response times from 40 minutes to 15 minutes.

Implementation is being carried out progressively, with the city expecting perceptible improvements in public spaces by October. Current efforts include reinforced evening water spraying in high-traffic tourist areas such as the historic center, El Zapillo, and Cabo de Gata.
