Almería launches international Spanish guitar construction competition

The City Council of Almería and the Antonio de Torres Guitar Society have announced the first 'Ciudad de Almería' International Spanish Guitar Construction Competition. Held at the Antonio de Torres Guitar Museum, the initiative aims to promote the legacy of the renowned luthier Antonio de Torres and establish Almería as an international reference point for the history and evolution of the Spanish guitar.

Joaquín Pérez de la Blanca, the Councilor for Culture, Education, Museums, and Traditions, emphasized the importance of protecting and transmitting the artisanal knowledge and tradition of guitar making to new generations. Joaquín Carrillo, president of the Antonio de Torres Guitar Society, noted that registration for the competition will open next week via email and a dedicated website. The event also featured the participation of artist Juan Carmona.
