Leire Díez appeals unification of judicial investigations

Leire Díez, a former PSOE member, has filed an appeal against the decision by the Audiencia Nacional to unify two separate judicial investigations involving her. Her defense argues that the two cases are not connected and accuses the Civil Guard's Central Operative Unit (UCO) of maneuvering against her.

The legal dispute involves a case previously handled by Judge Arturo Zamarriego in Madrid, which focused on alleged bribery and influence peddling involving Díez, businessman Javier Pérez Dolset, and journalist Pere Rusiñol. This case was recently transferred to Judge Santiago Pedraz of the Audiencia Nacional, who has merged it with a broader investigation into a suspected plot to destabilize judicial proceedings affecting the PSOE and the family of President Pedro Sánchez.

Díez's legal team maintains that the investigations are distinct and that the Audiencia Nacional's decision to consolidate them constitutes a parallel investigation. Meanwhile, the Madrid Prosecutor's Office has also declined to expand a separate investigation into alleged attempts to obstruct judicial proceedings related to the President's brother.
