Almere Stad fair hosts Halt pilot for youth interventions
A national pilot program involving the Halt foundation has launched at the Almere Stad fair. The initiative aims to provide immediate interventions for youths who commit minor offenses, such as alcohol possession or public intoxication.
Instead of receiving a fine and a criminal record, young people can choose a Halt intervention through a mobile unit stationed near the fairgrounds. This approach is designed to encourage reflection on behavior and prevent unnecessary involvement in the criminal justice system. During the initial phase, officials reported a calm atmosphere with no required interventions or significant police action.
