Almere to green Grote Markt and Stadhuisplein in 2028
The municipality of Almere plans to implement a greener design for the Grote Markt and Stadhuisplein in 2028. This redevelopment will be integrated with scheduled major maintenance for those areas. The final design plan is expected to be established in the first quarter of 2027.
The initiative aims to improve livability in the city center by providing cooling, better air quality, and healthier environments for residents and visitors. The project also seeks to create attractive connections between the center and the Stadsweteringpark.
A budget of approximately 1.49 million euros has been allocated for the broader greening of the city center between 2026 and 2029, while roughly 1.76 million euros is designated for the Stadsweteringpark during the same period.
