Dominican Republic government delivers 50 garbage trucks to municipalities
The Dominican Republic government has delivered 50 new garbage compactor trucks to various municipalities and municipal district boards to strengthen local waste collection capabilities. This delivery, ordered by President Luis Abinader, marks the second phase of a program that has now distributed a total of 100 units.
Administrative Minister of the Presidency, Andrés Bautista, led the ceremony at the National Palace. He noted that while the first phase benefited 14 provinces, this second phase covers 18 additional provinces and municipalities. Beneficiaries include locations such as Dajabón, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Samaná, and San Cristóbal, among others.
Bautista emphasized that efficient waste collection is vital for community hygiene and urban aesthetics. He urged local mayors and directors to ensure proper maintenance of the vehicles to extend their operational life, noting that the demand for such equipment continues to exceed available government resources.
