Almirante Brown honors San Martín legacy with newborn gift deliveries

The Sanmartiniana Cultural Association of Almirante Brown and the local commune held a tradition established in 2022 by delivering commemorative gift sets to the first babies born on August 24 at the Lucio Meléndez and Oñativia provincial hospitals.

The event honors the birth of Mercedes Tomasa de San Martín y Escalada, daughter of General José de San Martín, who was born on August 24, 1816. Members of the General San Martín Horse Grenadiers Regiment participated in the deliveries to the families of newborn Luana and Tiago.

Each gift set includes clothing, diapers, blankets, a book, and information cards regarding the life of Mercedes Tomasa de San Martín y Escalada. The sets also include a copy of the book ‘Máximas para mi hija’ (Maxims for my daughter), written by General San Martín.
