Almirante Participações wins Vasco da Gama SAF auction

Almirante Participações S.A., led by businessman Marcos Lamacchia, has won the judicial auction for 90% of the shares in Vasco da Gama's football corporation (SAF). The winning bid includes R$ 500 million dedicated to football, R$ 120 million for the training center, and R$ 30 million for the youth academy.

To ensure institutional stability, the agreement stipulates that the sale of shares and the distribution of dividends are prohibited for a period of 10 years. The total investment, which includes debt settlement, is estimated to reach up to R$ 2 billion.

The transaction still faces several mandatory steps, including approval from the club's Deliberative Council and an Extraordinary General Assembly of members. Additionally, the National Agency for Regulation and Sustainability of Football (Anresf) is conducting an analysis regarding a potential conflict of interest, as Lamacchia is the stepson of Leila Pereira, the president of Palmeiras.
